#BlindDate at Orgatec’24 : KRALL+ROTH X Danish Designmakers X Evalou Hauge
KRALL+ROTH goes #BlindDate X Danish Design Makers | ORGATEC 2024
How can responsible design minimise our impact on the environment?
As part of ORGATEC, the Danish Design Makers and MÅLBAR launched the #BlindDate format - an innovative design experiment in which 19 Danish designers collaborated anonymously on the topic of REDUCTION - based on specifications from unknown industry partners.
KRALL+ROTH was honoured to be a partner of the #BlindDate 3 times!
„The brief describes that monomaterials, circularity, transparency and longevity in textile fibres are important to my blind date partner. I have therefore focused on researching wool and polyester, some of the most used fibres for upholstery. But finally I look into hemp as a possible super fibre with a low climate footprint.
All this research has become a book which describes the 3 kinds of fibres wool, polyester and hemp. It is sort of a children´s book full of illustrations but only simple words and explanations to how and where textile fibres are made, how durable they are and how suitable they are for reuse and of cause maalbar´s calculations for their climate impact.
The conclusions of the research and the book has then been made into 3 repeat patterns, inspired by wool, polyester and hemp, suitable for jacquard weaving in the according fibres.
My idea was that the user of the upholstery should be curious of the pattern and its meaning and want to investigate more about fibres.“ - Evalou Hauge
